Hey everyone! After some internal debate we have decided to switch from Mumble to TeamSpeak 3 as our choice of VoIP application. Why? To sum it up: People have more familiarity with TS3, and will be able to get connected quicker TS3 has a working overlay TS3 has a generally nicer user interface, and is more friendly to noobs You can connect to multiple TS3 servers at once, which you cannot do with Mumble servers There's a few other reasons but those are the main ones. To get connected to TeamSpeak 3, head to https://tridentoutfit.com/ts and click the blue "Connect and Link TS3 Identity" button. This will connect you to the server and also mark your account with your username and identifier from this site, your permissions will then be automatically updated within five minutes and you'll get your tag and join permissions. After a promotion, etc. your new permissions will automatically be synced, you don't need to do anything. If you have any issues or suggestions then post them in this thread! Thanks! Jack
Was a bit of nasty shock when I just tried to join mumble and found out my details were incorrect. I immediately thought I got kicked or something xd
Never thought I'd see you sad over something like this. I agree with you though, it's strange, like I said it feels like an end of an era. I've always gotten used to doing things with Trident on Mumble.
As far as I know it's not possible. The 2 are significantly different that they might as well be completely different VOIP-programs. But it's easy to find out: try to connect with the TS2 client, if you can't connect it doesn't work and you'll have to install TS3.
The sound was just superior because the channels are all set to quality 6 (out of 10) on the current TS3 server. If you put them to the maximum level, mumble and TS3 are identical (they use the same opus voice codec). Speaking of TS3: I have a suggestions for the TS3 admins: How about the option for Trident members to create temporary channels? There are several situations were it might be advantageous for user's to set up their own channel (e.g. for a squad or platoon, air-team, or simply for quality issues a user might have due to his low bandwidth or because he wants to enjoy the best channel quality). A temporary channel gets erased as soon as the channel is empty, so it doesn't fill (and mess) up the server. On the other hand there is plenty of room for people to coordinate individually. Just a thought.
Temporary channel creation is a privilege awarded to Sergeants, Lieutenants, Directors, Councillors and Donators, those who hold one of the above ranks (or are a Donator) can simply right click on the root channel in TS3 and click Create Channel.
