Hey guys, In order to allow us to use the title Officer for in-game duties which don't extend to the main administration duties of Trident Outfit we're renaming the rank Officer to Director. Directors are those who assist with the administration and day-to-day management of the outfit. A reminder of our current Directors: Planetside 2 Directors: slightjunky, CTMWood84 Warframe Director: Ice247 Minecraft Director: DoomPotato Social Media Director: ron65774 Branding Director: Hasibuzi Senior Developers: TheCainer tl;dr: Name change, everything else is the same.
If one were to have a deep hatred of Anglican parish priests, might you hear him shout "DIE!, Rector!"
groan. I feel like if a name change of "Councillor" was needed, some more thought might have gone into it. Director is a little......shit.
The discussion on this name change took approximately two hours of council screaming and arguing debating. I vaguely recall wishing I had spent those two hours working towards the auraxium on my Beamer since that would probably have been less frustrating.
You wouldn't believe how long we actually spent discussing this. In the end I just gave up out of frustration.
Re: Rank Name Change, Officers --> Directors Over here anyway the owners of a company are called "Directors". Not sure if it's lost in translation but generally it's considered a fairly lofty title.
True Pretty sure Director is used in the UK as well though for the owners of a company, Irish civil law was all just taken straight from UK law when we gained independence.
I'm still not really in the picture as to why officer is being pulled tbh. There is no more room in-game for any other ranks and director, in-game, makes no sense. Ps2 wise atleast. The community as a whole might enjoy the release of "officer", for some other higher purpose, but the theme for all our ranks, expect councilor, is military themed. So why didn't you just work with that, major, colonel, general etc etc. Personally, I think chief probably fits the bill the best, as this can apply to non "military" stuff too, media chief etc etc. Or captain, for the same reasons. but ultimately, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it either way.
It's not for Planetside, it's for Star Citizen and other games. Director is the outfit wide "Officer" which attends quarterly meetings and has council level authority in things related to their position. The new officers are just helpers in various games. If necessary we can always change the name again I suppose, I'm pretty sure we had this discussion with the Officers involved as well though... Seems like a long time ago.
