Hey guys, SOE decided to plan a bit of maintenance on the API. Of course they also decided that they would post the incorrect date of when the maintenance would take place and also post the notice less than 24 hours before the maintenance was to take place. In addition to all of that they neglected to properly explain what would actually happen during the maintenance, so even if I had been notified I would've been unable to predict this outcome. At 0:00 UTC last night, the Planetside 2 API began returning empty lists of data. Everything behaved correctly, the API stated that it was returning valid data, just the lists were empty. The outfit members list in particular, was empty. This lead to the kicking of everyone from the Planetside 2 Division on the forums. If you were only a member of the PS2 Division, it would have also kicked you from Trident altogether seeing as you were no longer part of any divisions. I was made aware of the problem when I connected to the onboard Wi-Fi provided on my transatlantic flight at 08:30 UTC this morning. I could have immediately restored backups but opted to wait until I got home so that I would have better control over the process and wouldn't have to worry about a slow or dropped connection. At 15:00 UTC I arrived home and began work. I quickly whipped up a script that would rollback the changes for any members kicked from the division in the past 24 hours and ran it. Almost everything should now be back as it was yesterday. Almost. There is one small problem, any Sergeants/Lieutenants who were only a part of the Planetside 2 Division will have lost their rank. To fix this you need to PM me or post here stating that you've lost your rank and I will manually promote you. I estimate the number of affected users to be quite small as a large majority of our Sergeants/Lieutenants are members of multiple divisions. A permanent more restrictive safeguard will be coded into the divisions system by the end of today and this should never happen again. Apologies for any inconvenience, Jack
good guy jackjack to the rescue! thanks for swift and competent action (unlike some other people cough soe cough, we won't mention)
We all appreciate your work JackJack I was a member of PS2 division only, and a sargeant. But I still have access to the sergeants forum so I guess I'm ok..
