This a seperate thread from this one that explains it: https://tridentoutfit.com/forums/index.php?threads/the-mentor-system.68417/ The purpose of this thread is making the announcement Forum less cluttered An update (from Djupfryst): The Smash training is over, for now, and there seems to be a revived interest in this mentorship thing. So let's see if we can get it going again! If anyone's interested, now's the time to let us know! The list of mentors has been updated as well, as has the list of topics. So if you are interested in being a mentor, let us know that as well! Now, be aware that we also (and still) have the Tactical Training and Leadership Training, and that even though we're currently not doing them on a regular basis, this is still an option. So consider - or rather, let us consider - whether it would better be done as part of these. And I would also like to point out that some things could be done during our regular Tactical Squads or whatever! For example (as we've seen happen in the Smash training), if learning to fill the role of the LA, your mentor (as long as he is not the SL ;P) could give you specific tasks and feedback and such! This would probably be the best (even only) way of learning many things. Obviously, I don't mean to make things complicated. So if in doubt, as always, just ask (in here), and we'll try to figure out which format best fits your suggestion. That part's up to us, so don't concern yourself with that. But yeah, request away! Mentors you can choose from: Omnishoot1: SL casual (in public platoons) and advanced (tactical squads) PL casual(live play) and advanced (FNO + competitive) Vehicles, Magriding, Scythe, Galpiloting, Harrassing, Battlesundis Infantry, Heavy assault, Medic Djupfryst: SL and PL, casual and advanced - Public, FNO, Tactical, general advice on leadership, whatever Infiltrator and Light Assault - Whether class-specific or on being the "roamer" in general Vehicles (armour or aircraft) as part of Squads/Platoons Magriding Groundtrooper: Harrassing Current mentorship going on: Omnishoot Djupfryst Make sure to post in this thread if you want a mentor.
I'd like to try out platoon leading. But I'm afraid to fail super hard. If someone with experience could SL for me, to do some "emergency backseat platoon leading" if necessary, that would be great.
Wanted mentors to teach a poor soul how to SL (casually and tactically), PL and the ways of the most op class of papa Vanu, heavy assault.
I can do this for you. While I've had experience with all tanks I'd mostly just do magriding. I'd help with when it's a good time to pull, where good spots to fight are and spots to avoid and how to use it in a fight. I'd probably just have you gun for all of it. Once you understand the stuff I've said you should be able to just get any gunner to help.
I don't mind squad or platoon leading (as stated in the other thread). I'd essentially just ask the guy to add me on steam and poke me when he would want me to help. I could potentially do a few hours everyday on this stuff. That could just be for BowG but if he wants less than I can do other people too. If other people wanted help while I was teaching someone else I'll let them "attend a session" but they'd just be there to listen and I wouldn't interact with them as much. I'd keep going essentially until BowG wanted to stop or I felt I've told him everything I know/feel he can handle himself. For more specific times I'd generally ask it to be during an alert. To get more people and to have more of a direct objective.
Probably goes without saying, but I'm gonna wait until after this Smash to start anything. But if anyone's interested then post now, of course.
After smash i should have a bit more free time, ill try to see what you need to do in the meantime be in platoon co ordination and lead platoons.
Looking for help with Heavy Assault. I legit only play Infil and LA and sometimes medic in tacticools if I have too. I have tried HA a few times but generally get shut down real fast. My HA is full certed with; Adren/NMG ASC/Bandolier/Nanoweave Conc/AV nades.
